Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) strengthens Selangor’s status with its latest partnerships.
Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) (MBI Selangor) today announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Memorandum of Agreement with leading organisations from the clean energy and fisheries industries.
The collaborations marked another milestone for MBI Selangor in its efforts to facilitate Selangor’s state aspirations to become a smart, liveable, and prosperous state by 2025, as outlined in the First Selangor Plan, more often known as RS-1.
Today’s event saw MBI Selangor forging strategic partnerships with three (3) notable partners, namely Gentari Sdn Bhd, Alpha Ocean Resources Berhad, and the Consortium of Sekinchan Development Holding Sdn Bhd and Persatuan Kebajikan Nelayan dan Peniaga-Peniaga Ikan Sekinchan Selangor. These alliances, established in the presence of YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Selangor’s Menteri Besar, signal a concerted effort to advance and bolster Selangor’s economic development.
“In the spirit of meeting the objective of RS-1, MBI Selangor and Gentari have a unique opportunity to exemplify their shared dedication in supporting the Selangor State’s effort to combat climate change and cultivating sustainable growth. Gentari’s work covering renewable energy, hydrogen and green mobility sectors present immense
opportunities for the Selangor State government to access a broader spectrum of clean energy solutions. This will help expedite our journey towards achieving ambitious decarbonisation goals, in transitioning to become a high-value green economy,” said Selangor Chief Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, at the launch of the Selangor International Business Summit 2023 in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
He continued, “Under the Sabak Bernam Development Area (SABDA) programme, we are advancing to the next stage of delivering long-term solutions to ensure resilience for our food sovereignty in satisfying the needs of the domestic market.”
MBI Selangor inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gentari Sdn Bhd, a clean energy company offering the solutions required to help its customers in their decarbonisation journey. The MoU focuses on the development of solar energy, the acceleration of EV adoption and for the creation of a hydrogen economy in hydrogen economy in Selangor.
In addition to the MoU, MBI Selangor also signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Alpha Ocean Resources Berhad (AORB), and the Consortium of Sekinchan Development Holding Sdn Bhd and Persatuan Kebajikan Nelayan dan Peniaga-Peniaga Ikan Sekinchan Selangor to strengthen food sovereignty and drive blue economy development in the Sabak Bernam region. These two large-scale fisheries projects aim to attract some RM 600 million in investments and provide over 7,000 jobs over a 10-year period.
Alpha Ocean Resources Berhad (AORB), a leading company in the seafood industry, will oversee the development of the first tuna processing and packaging plant in Malaysia situated in Sungai Lang, Selangor. This facility is part of a 10-year project that will include a new landing port for large vessels plying the Indian Ocean and a land-based fish and crab farm that will create between 2,500 and 5,000 job opportunities. The initial investment in the landing port that is expected to start operating within one year is over RM 100 million.
Meanwhile, the Consortium of Sekinchan Development Holding Sdn Bhd and Persatuan Kebajikan Nelayan dan Peniaga-Peniaga Ikan Sekinchan Selangor are set to develop Malaysia’s first integrated fish landing port in Sekinchan that will be equipped with a comprehensive traceability system that tracks the origin, processing, and distribution of every fish product in the facility. The project also endeavours to boost domestic tourism and is estimated to attract investments of RM484.1 million over a 10-year period in Sabak Bernam and create over 4,000 jobs.
