FIM2009 – the largest annual franchising exhibition in Southeast Asia and the only franchise event officially sanctioned by the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism (MDTCC) and Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) – was held at Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur from 31st July to 2nd Aug ‘09. A total of 110 booths were taken up by 90 companies participating in the event.
Attaining its 16th years pinnacle with proven organising track records, the FIM2009 made a total transaction of RM340 million within the three days – 12% higher from the projected RM300 million. The Chairman for FIM2009, Datuk Dr. Adnan Alias said that although the event only recorded 7,843 participants – 12% lower than the previous year’s event – however the quality of participants and visitors were still high. (FIM2008 recorded 8,909 visitorship with the total transactions at RM283 million).
Datuk Dr. Adnan further reiterated that the encouraging showing of FIM2009 is a strong indicator that the business sector is still holding an optimistic view towards franchising as well as the economy.
